Valeria
Ochoa
Valeria Ochoa began her golfing
career at a young age of 6 years
old in Medellin, Colombia.
Incredibly, Valeria began to
travel and compete at the age of
7 throughout Colombia. Her
experience that she gained at
such a young age propelled her
to the South American
Championship victory in Chile at
age 14. Valeria followed that
win with another Victory the
following year in Brazil.
Valeria had continued high hopes
of competing on the LPGA, but
then at the age of 18, there
became a change of
responsibilities and her
aspirations of competing at the
highest level, had to be put on
hold.
In
1999, Valeria decided to
relocate to the United States
with their first born child.
That would prove to become not
only one of her highest
challenges, but also her biggest
opportunities would soon reveal
themselves. This new venture to
the US was a great challenge
because of the language
barrier. Valeria only knew how
to speak Spanish, but once
again, was not going to let that
slow her down. By the age of
23, Valeria now had 3 children,
working full time and yet she
still had things to accomplish.
It was time to dust off the
clubs and get back to
accomplishing her original
goals.
In
2002, Valeria accepted a
position at Bonaventure Country
Club where she immediately took
full advantage of the
opportunity. She began a junior
golf academy that grew into
immediate success. After one
year of continued success as the
academy director and owner,
Valeria was selected to
participate on the golf channels
“Big Break III”. This
opportunity would prove to
become a launching pad for
Valeria’s presence in front of
the camera. After finishing 5th
on the “Big Break III”, Valeria
had opened up the doors. She
was immediately asked to
participate on several of the
golf channels programs. Valeria
appeared on Golf Academy Live,
she also had 2 appearances as
the co-host on The Top Shelf.
Then, Valeria was asked to be
the host of a new venue for the
golf channel which took place in
Scotland while filming the “Big
Break IV” which was called “All
Access” behind the scenes.
Since then, Valeria has
participated in Hawaii in a new
show called “Golf With Style”.
All of the success that came
with participating in all of
these events has propelled yet
another new challenge.
Valeria is
available for lessons at
